You might think that there is no movie less suitable for a video game adaptation than Cannibal Holocaust. But you are wrong, because it is, in fact, kicking the stores this November. The teaser trailer premiered on April 8th.
The original movie, released in 1980, established the found footage sub-genre that would later become a pivotal part of modern horror. Created by an Italian filmmaker Ruggero Deodato, Cannibal Holocaust tells a controversial fictional story of the Western-world filmmakers who go to the Amazon forests so they could make a documentary about the indigenous tribes that practiced ritualistic cannibalism.
The upcoming game, titled “Cannibal”, is developed with the blessing and directions from Ruggero Deodato himself, in collaboration with Fantastico Studio. It is described as “an interactive horror graphic adventure” that involves a team of characters traveling for through the mysterious jungles of Borneo. The visuals will be an homage to the drawings of Solo Macello, who contributed to the original movie’s concept.
“Cannibal” is planned to be available on mobile, Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
