April 20th marks yet another milestone for Mark Zuckerberg’s white-blue colossus: the launch of a Facebook gaming app that is heavily focused on streaming. The developers promise a super easy experience for every gamer who wishes to become a streamer with just a few clicks, via a Go Live feature. The streams will then be displayed on their Facebook accounts.
So far, it is hard to predict if the new Facebook project will win its spotlight next to YouTube and Twitch, the most popular platforms among gamers. It is only available for Android users, with no information about a possible iOS launch (which can be a tricky thing since Apple does not allow third-party apps into the App Store).
But Facebook’s gaming app will also be both ad-free and free for registration: it is presumed that the users will tip their favorite streamers with so-called “stars”, a special donation currency that can be monetized.
