It is indeed quite a herculean effort to vaccinate a billion-plus population. The science and logistics required are truly mind-blowing. It is even more difficult when you happen to be the second-largest country of virus cases and resultant deaths. Fortunately, there is a ray of light in that this country is a medicine producing world hub. It has the technology and science capability to achieve this task. Consequently, it is working and seeking emergency approval for its own two vaccines. The capability to produce enough vaccines from producing the products of others already approved is a big plus. As a result, 400 million doses produced by July is the target. It is critically important. To vaccinate all the population requires a billion units. They are adamant that 60% will secure herd immunity. Not all the population has to be vaccinated is the thinking.

William is our Associate Editor, providing the freshest scientific news. Here’s a secret: William is actually quite a famous Op-Ed columnist for another site. But he uses pseudonyms there, and we will never tell. After all, we couldn’t get luckier — having him provide us with the freshest scientific news. William was born in Palo Alto, which obviously had a major impact on his love for science. However, there was a time when he seriously considered becoming a punk rocker — he had the garage band and all. Next thing William knew he was majoring in Computational Science, running columns for The Alto Sheet, The Californian and The Pacific Vision. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t play his guitar anymore. You should hear his punk rock version of Careless Whisper. Email:coolidge@democracyforus.org
